Mission TEJAS, which stands for Telangana Jnana Avishkarana Sankalpam, is a visionary initiative by the Government of Telangana's School Education Department. Its primary goal is to ignite a spirit of innovation, problem-solving, and inquiry in every student across the state, preparing them with future-ready skills to contribute to a developed India by 2047.
The mission is specifically designed for students in government schools across all districts of Telangana, with a special focus on reaching rural and tribal regions that may not have access to physical innovation labs.
While both initiatives aim to foster innovation, Mission TEJAS is built on a "digital-first" model. Its flagship initiative, the Virtual Tinkering Lab (VTL), is designed to be universally scalable and does not require expensive physical hardware. This allows us to reach every single school and student in Telangana, bridging the infrastructure gap that currently limits the reach of physical lab programs like ATL.
The Virtual Tinkering Lab (VTL) is a comprehensive digital platform that provides students with tools, learning modules, and simulators to explore concepts in science, technology, robotics, AI, and more. It is an online ecosystem where students can learn, experiment, build projects, and solve problems from anywhere, using a basic computer with internet access.
Students will embark on a structured learning journey called the "Navonmesh Yatra." They will learn foundational 21st-century skills, including critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving. The platform includes modules on electronics, coding, 3D design, AI, and developing solutions for real-world community challenges.
The VTL is designed for maximum accessibility. A student primarily needs access to a basic computer, laptop, or tablet with a standard internet connection. This eliminates the need for expensive, specialized hardware and physical lab setups, ensuring equity for all.
Enrollment is managed through participating government schools. If your school is VTL-enabled, students can register through the "Student Login" on the VTL Portal. We are working to onboard all government schools across the state.
No. Mission TEJAS is a government-led initiative, and the Virtual Tinkering Lab is provided completely free of charge to all students in participating schools. We believe innovation is a right, not a privilege.
The Innovator Passport is a unique digital portfolio for every student on the VTL platform. It acts as a dynamic, verifiable record of their entire innovation journey, tracking completed modules, projects, skill certifications, and team collaborations. It serves as a valuable credential for their future academic and professional pursuits.
We are implementing Mission TEJAS in a phased manner across all districts. School administrators and principals interested in joining the program are encouraged to contact the School Education Department, Government of Telangana, for onboarding information.
Teachers are the cornerstones of this mission. They act as mentors and facilitators, guiding students through the VTL modules and encouraging their curiosity. The program provides support for teachers through District Mentors and dedicated resources to help them foster an innovative mindset in their classrooms.
A key pillar of Mission TEJAS is "Community Integration." The program encourages the formation of School Innovation Committees and connects schools with local mentors and Smart Village initiatives. This ensures that student projects are often rooted in solving real-world problems relevant to their own villages and communities, making learning more impactful.
